FireSmart

One of the best ways to be FireSmart is to start young. The new FireSmart BC Education Program is an all-in-one teaching resource to introduce students in grades K-12 to FireSmart concepts, including how to make homes and communities more resilient to wildfire.

Wildfire Awareness and Risk Assessment

This fire safety course provides the skills needed to assess, minimise and navigate the risks posed by wildfires with confidence. We explain how to evaluate fire hazards, create robust emergency plans and make decisions during crises. We discuss where and when wildfires occur and show you how to prepare for emergencies and avoid hazards during and after a wildfire.

Preparing Homes For Wildfire

Research around home destruction vs. home survival in wildfires point to embers and small flames as the main way that the majority of homes ignite in wildfires. Embers are burning pieces of airborne wood and/or vegetation that can be carried more than a mile through the wind can cause spot fires and ignite homes, debris and other objects.
